Funding

The important work of the Centre is made possible by the support of our key and study specific funding partners

The work of the CMHW is made possible by the continued funding and support of the Medical Research Council and Versus Arthritis (formerly Arthritis Research UK), who have financed the Centre’s important research work since 2014, with funding currently extended until 2026.

The Medical Research Council (MRC) improves the health of people in the UK and around the world by supporting excellent science, and training the very best scientists.

The heart of the MRC’s mission is to improve human health through world-class medical research. To achieve this, the council supports research across the biomedical spectrum, from fundamental lab-based science to clinical trials, and in all major disease areas. They work closely with the NHS and the UK health departments to deliver this mission, and give a high priority to research that is likely to make a real difference to clinical practice and the health of the population.

Versus Arthritis (formerly Arthritis Research UK) works alongside volunteers, healthcare professionals, researchers and patients to do everything they can to push back against arthritis. The charity’s goal is to continue to support developing breakthrough treatments, campaigning for arthritis to be seen as a priority, and to support those with arthritis whenever support is needed.

Versus Arthritis is built from the carers, researchers, healthcare professionals, friends, parents, fundraisers and the 10 million people living with arthritis in the UK, united with the ambition that one day no one will have to live with the pain, fatigue and isolation that arthritis causes.
